| Two of the most important, yet sometimes overlooked components of Solar Electric Systems are the Inverter and the Charge Controller. Without these crucial components, systems can be damaged, or work far below their intended capacity and efficiency. It is vital that your Inverter and your Charge Controller be among the most researched purchases within your new Solar Electric Kit.
DC to AC Power Inverters come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and power levels. They can be small, less powerful, intended for powering small appliances such as cell phones or laptop pc’s. They can also be large, capable of providing several kilowatts of continuous power. The size inverter that you choose to invest in will depend upon the solar application that you are working with.
Charge Controllers are crucial for any Solar Electric system that is being used for battery charging. Overcharging batteries can be detrimental to the health of the battery, and can damage it to the point that it is no longer useable. To prevent batteries from being overcharged by Solar Panels that are always running when the sun is striking them, a Charge Controller should be used. The Charge Controller will tell your Solar System when the batteries are fully charged, and stops the system from continuing to charge the batteries.
DIY Solar Guide carries a number of Charge Controllers and DC to AC Power Inverters for use with a wide range of Solar Electric Systems and applications.
We carry 2 DC to AC Power Inverters: a 75W inverter, and a 400W inverter. And we carry 7 Charge Controllers, rated from 4 Amps all the way up to 60 Amps, as well as a line of displays and remote displays for our larger Charge Controllers.
